My husband and I moved to Queen Creek in January of 2004.  We purchased a nice home on a 1 acre lot that was already fenced for horses.  We picked up our first goat about 2 weeks later because she had just given birth to a beautiful baby girl (whom my kids had to have) so we brought January (fitting) and Ariel (what is a farm without Disney names) home to start our farm.  Next thing we knew we picked up a peacock, a few chickens, a baby lamb, another goat and her baby, a rabbit, a cow, an Emu, some more chickens, a turkey, another rabbit, a pony, some more chickens, a duck, some donated goats (this tends to happen periodically), some donated chickens, our first newborn lambs (2 to be exact), and a pig or two or three. (what is a farm without the 3 little pigs?  A farm with 3 pigs that don't stay little!)

And that my friends is how you start a farm.  Now how can you afford to feed all of these wonderful animals?  You mortgage your house, get a second job, sell off all of the belongings that someone will purchase, and put all of your dreams aside, or you start a Mobile Petting Zoo. (we went with the Zoo....we didn't have too many belongings that someone wanted to purchase.) In the end, this is our family investment done strictly for the fun and joy it brings us to work as a team, and to have such a great time teaching and learning together.
